For visitors, discovering Geneva through its historical and modern figures adds an enriching dimension to their stay. I’m thrilled to unveil the soul of this vibrant, cosmopolitan city through the remarkable figures who have left their mark. From the old town to fine watchmaking, from humanitarianism to gastronomy, here’s an inspiring dive into the heart of Geneva.
The old town: a journey through time
Geneva’s old town, dominated by Cathedral Saint-Pierre, is where history comes alive. Jean Calvin, figure from the Protestant Reformation, has left his indelible mark. Parc des Bastions pays tribute to this era with the Reformation Wall. The “Escalade”, milestone of 1602, recalls the courage against the Savoyard, with anecdotes like Catherine Cheynel, also known as “la Mère Royaume”. Legend has it that she would scald an enemy with her pot of vegetable soup. Today, this heroic act is celebrated each year including the symbolic breaking of a chocolate pot, a gentle reminder of Geneva’s rich history.
Excellence of fine watchmaking
Time seems to have a particular value in Geneva, cradle of fine watchmaking. The “Jet d’Eau”, created in the 19th century to relieve pressure on hydraulic machines used by the watchmakers, has become the symbol of the city. Figures such as Jean-Marc Vacheron, Abraham-Louis Breguet and the founders of Patek Philippe have elevated watchmaking to the level of art. Allow me to open the door of one of the manufactures, where master artisans of time continue to excel. The perfect watch for your wrist is just around the corner.
Geneva, capital of humanitarianism
Switzerland is giving its neutrality a humanitarian and peaceful orientation along with its tradition. Among the emblematic characters, Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross receives the first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901. 100 years later, as General Secretary of the United Nations, Kofi Annan was also honored with the Nobel Prize. Their legacy lives on in iconic institutions such as the International Red Cross Museum and the Palace of Nations. This is a highlight I always suggest to guests, particularly the breathtaking ceiling of the chamber XX, a masterpiece by Spanish artist Miquel Barceló.
Chocolate heritage
Geneva’s culinary excellence is embodied by its chocolate traditions. In 1826, Jacques Foulquier, a renowned Geneva confectioner, began making chocolate, laying the foundations for the famous Maison Favarger, one of Switzerland’s leading chocolate producers. Today, Geneva’s chocolatiers are among the finest in Switzerland, combining heritage and know-how handed down from generation to generation. While strolling through the streets, I invite my guests to discover my favorite one from Auer: a grilled and crunchy almond covered by soft chocolate … a must-try treat to bring home to your loved ones.
Geneva, at the crossroads of history and modernity, offers much more than a setting: it tells stories, stories of visionary minds and dedicated hands that have shaped its unique identity. Let me be your guide in uncovering this legacy, sharing the soul of Geneva, and making your experience truly unforgettable.

An undeniable passion for service guided me to this incredible adventure; even though it was not predetermined in my youth, hospitality shaped my life. My journey began in Palaces such as Hôtel Les Airelles Courchevel as ski valet and Byblos Saint-Tropez as bellman. There I discovered the magic of Les Clefs d’Or concierges and quickly developed a love for guest services and the desire to provide a personal touch in creating lasting memories. My path soon led me to Geneva, where I first integrated the concierge team at Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues, and later joined Beau-Rivage Genève where I now serve as Chef Concierge. Through Les Clefs d’Or, which I proudly integrated in 2018, I found a way to expand my potential, grow alongside inspiring colleagues and meet fellow concierges. Motivated by the legacy of the association and driven to contribute, I joined the committee of Les Clefs d’Or Geneva, eventually becoming President in 2022. With enthusiasm and dedication, I strive to enhance the value of our profession in developing city tourism, fostering innovation, sharing knowledge, and inspiring excellence, while building strong connections to create unforgettable experiences to our precious guests.
