Allow me to guide you on a brief exploration of our charming nation, once referred to as Dilmun, now known as the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain has gained recognition as the first home of motorsports in the region, even if not everyone is familiar with my home country through Formula One.
Bahrain is situated in the heart of the Arabian Gulf, nestled between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Bahrain, when translated into English, means “the two seas,” referring to the distinct bodies of water: the fresh springs and the salty sea waters.
Bahrain, the smallest country in the Middle East, boasts a rich and extensive history that stands out in the region. We take great pride in our traditions and culture, even in this contemporary age. Reflecting on the past, Muharraq served as the capital of Bahrain, a time when the primary occupations revolved around fishing and pearl diving. The pearls of Bahrain are celebrated for their distinctive luster. In the early 1900s, the renowned pearl merchant Jacques Cartier made his way to Bahrain in search of exquisite pearls. Today, you still have the opportunity to dive for your pearls, as the shallow oyster beds of Bahrain are accessible.
Reflecting on my childhood, I am transported to those narrow streets, where the delightful aroma of freshly made Halwa fills the air. The Showaiter Family factory was a true delight, a place where we would gather our sweet treats. Each day, the artisans crafted sweets in a time-honored manner, now beautifully enhanced by modern technology, yet preserving that authentic taste. Every bite evokes cherished memories, reminding us all of our youthful days.
Following the discovery of oil, our economy flourished, bringing numerous advancements to Bahrain. Yet, one treasure has remained timeless—the luster of pearls beneath our two seas. With the rise in tourism in our country, we take great pride in showcasing our rich heritage, particularly the Pearling Path, which has been recognized by UNESCO for its historical significance. Pearling has a rich history that dates back to 5,000 BC, notably mentioned in the epic of Gilgamesh during his journey to Dilmun. Bahrain has a delightful array of offerings, and we are pleased to extend a warm welcome to all.

When I joined hospitality, I had no idea how far I would go. I started as a Concierge Agent, not even knowing what a concierge was or what hospitality really meant. But as I got to know the role better and learned about its responsibilities, I started to enjoy it and I can honestly say I built a connection with it. It’s a unique job that blends simple tasks with complex problem-solving, and what I love most is interacting with guests from different backgrounds. After years of dedication, continuous learning, and valuable experiences, I finally became eligible to take the Les Clefs d’Or test. Passing it marked a significant milestone in my career and in my personal journey. I am committed to transforming this into opportunities for the next generation. Additionally, I aim to keep the concierge profession thriving, even as the world becomes increasingly technology-driven because nothing can replace the human touch that a concierge provides.
