Every national chapter of Les Clefs d’Or has slightly different requirements for a hotel concierge to become a member. Some common minimum requirements are as follows:
a. The applicant must have a minimum of five years in a hotel guest-facing role, holding the position and title of Concierge for the last two consecutive years prior to application. (Any Member Association desirous of fixing a longer minimum of service time or stricter criteria may do so).
b. The applicant must be sponsored by two Senior Individual Members of the Member Association to maintain the prestige of UICH “Les Clefs d’Or.”
c. The applicant must provide a supporting job description defining the duties of a
concierge as defined in our Internal Regulations – UICH “Les Clefs d’Or” Concierge Duties.
d. All Les Clefs d’Or members must be directly employed by their hotel and must
work on-property, in a service based in the hotel lobby, at a desk either separate or shared with Reception, and may be required to work in other areas to meet guests’ needs. They must provide services to all guests within the hotel.
e. All Les Clefs d’Or members wear a uniform with golden keys on each lapel.
f. All Les Clefs d’Or members may manage or lead a team of uniformed staff such
as pages, door attendants, luggage porters and chauffeurs, etc.
g. All Les Clefs d’Or members report to the General Manager, Resident or Hotel Manager, Rooms Division Manager, Front Office Manager or Chef Concierge.
Only Active Members can enjoy voting rights within UICH Member Associations.
