“Stockholm i mitt hjärta, en blandning av sött och salt”
These words, sung every summer Tuesday at Allsång på Skansen, capture more than a feeling – they describe the soundtrack of the city shaped by contrasts. As a Les Clefs d’Or Concierge at the Grand Hôtel Stockholm, I sometimes tell guests that Stockholm is best discovered not only by walking the streets, but by listening to it.
Just across the water lies Gamla Stan, where Stockholm’s musical story begins. In the narrow cobblestone streets, echoes of folk songs and medieval melodies still linger. At Aifur, music is central to the experience, with live performances inspired by Sweden’s Viking heritage. Nearby, the Wirströms Pub offers an intimate live music session, where Jazz, folk and acoustic performances bring together locals and visitors alike.
Crossing south, we arrive at Södermalm, the creative soul of Stockholm, and the birthplace of much of its modern music culture. At Mosebacke, perched above the city, where music and views meet, one can enjoy anything from classic performances at Södra Teatern to summer evenings on Mosebacketerrassen. This has long been a stage for Swedish artists and songwriters.
Just a short walk through SOFO, hidden under the bridge at Skanstull, you’ll find Trädgården – an open-air venue that perfectly represents Stockholm’s contemporary sound. Electronic music, hip hop and live acts blend with long summer nights, creating an atmosphere that is unmistakably Stockholm.
From Södermalm, a short ferry ride takes you to Djurgården, where music again plays a central role. At Skansen, folk music and traditional songs are preserved and performed just as they have been for generations. And then, of course, there is The ABBA museum. Few bands have shaped Sweden’s global musical identity like ABBA. “Walk in. Dance out” is more than a slogan – it perfectly describes the joy, confidence and craftsmanship that define Swedish pop music.
Stockholm has also given the world artist and producers such as Avicii, Max Martin, Swedish house Mafia, Zara Larsson and countless more. Yet despite this global success, the city remains intimate.
Following Strandvägen back to the Grand Hôtel, the journey comes full circle. Stockholm is a city best experienced not only with your eyes, but with your ears. If you listen carefully, you’ll discover that every island has its own melody – and together they form the soundtrack of a city unlike any other.

My name is Isak Leima, and I am one of the Concierge’s at the Grand Hôtel Stockholm, where I have had the privilege of welcoming guests since April 2019. With a warm, personal approach and a belief that there is always a solution, I strive to make a difference for all guests I meet.
My hospitality journey began abroad. I lived in Australia between 2015 and 2017, where I started my hotel career at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney. Returning to Stockholm, I continued at Hotel Diplomat before joining the concierge team at the Grand Hôtel. These international experiences have shaped my approach to modern, discreet luxury and my understanding of guests from all over the world.
Outside the hotel, I am deeply connected to Stockholm. I have a strong passion for restaurants, bars, and live music, which goes hand in hand with the profession. I spend a significant amount of my free time on the water. My sailboat, moored on Södermalm, is both my escape and my way of staying close to the city I love.
In the heart of Stockholm, Grand Hôtel has been a place for gatherings, celebrations and memorable stays since 1874. In autumn 2025, it became the only hotel in Sweden awarded with two keys in the Michelin Guide, a recognition of a long-standing commitment to quality and consistency. We are also a proud member of Leading Hotels of the World.
The hotel combines historic elegance with a contemporary spirit. Rooms and suites are thoughtfully designed, offering comfort, calm, and a sense of place. Dining is an essential part of the experience, with several restaurants and bars offering everything from handcrafted cocktails at the Cadier Bar to seasonal menus and relaxed lunches, always framed by views of the Royal Palace.
Grand Hôtel is also a natural setting for events, from private occasions to large scale celebrations, all shaped with care and attention to detail. The Nordic spa offers a calm retreat with treatments, saunas, and cold plunges, providing balance to the energy of the city outside.
A stay at Grand Hôtel captures the spirit of Stockholm, where tradition and atmosphere meet in the heart of the city.
